Meccano Jewellery & Giveaway

In April last year, I published a DIY post on making a statement necklace from Meccano pieces. Towards the end of the year I got a really lovely e-mail from the brand manager for Meccano at Spin Master, saying that they loved what I'd made! After a phone call (all the way from L.A) I received a big box of Meccano goodies for me to play with and create new jewellery pieces from.

I decided to try and make a collection of pieces, rather than just randomly create. I started to sift through the Meccano pieces and pick out anything that caught my eye or could be interesting to use. I gathered together my other craft bits, chain, jump rings, gemstones and embroidery thread and sat down to experiment. Here's what I came up with:
I liked the idea of mixing different mediums and textures together, combining industrial-looking construction pieces with natural gemstones, bound together with silk thread.  The plates were really easy to work with as the shapes and holes allowed for other objects to be attached to them or to hang from them. I even used some of the bolts and washers that were included in the Meccano kits I got. I'm really happy with how they turned out and think that they're really wearable pieces, whether you're looking for a statement piece or simple pendant.

I thought that seeing as some of these pieces were gifted to me, I'd pass on the love and hold a little giveaway. I'll be giving away one piece of jewellery from this collection to one reader. You can enter worldwide and the closing date isn't until the 20th February, so there's plenty of time to enter and share! All you have to do is leave a comment below saying which piece is your favourite, visit and like the RENIQLO page on facebook and if you're on Pinterest, follow me on there too. Winner will be picked at random and announced at 6pm GMT on Friday 20th February via blog comment on here and also on Facebook.

Thanks for entering and good luck!

  1. I thought I had seen everything to do with Meccano, I've seen all kinds of toys and models, skeletons diplodocus, butterflies, flowers, even furniture and lamps but I still have a pr see one more thing, jewelry.

When a creative spirit stands in front of Meccano is not possible to know what your hands are going to create.
